Sverdlovsk Region launches 40.5 billion ruble road upgrade plan for 2026

The Sverdlovsk Region has announced an extensive road improvement plan for 2026. A total of 74 sites will undergo work, covering construction, major overhauls, and standard repairs. The regional government has allocated 40.5 billion rubles for these projects, with additional federal funding of 6.1 billion rubles. One of the largest projects involves the Yekaterinburg Ring Road, where a 2.6-kilometre section is being widened to six lanes. This reconstruction is part of a broader effort to ease traffic congestion in the area.

The transport interchange near the Kalina industrial complex in Yekaterinburg is already 86% complete. Officials expect it to be fully operational by the end of 2026. In Kirovgrad, work on Kirovogradskaya Street has reached 92% completion. The remaining tasks include finishing landscaping and installing street lighting, with the entire project set for completion by November 30, 2026. Meanwhile, the Chernoye Lake Highway in Nizhny Tagil is nearing its final stages. Full acceptance of the road is scheduled for summer 2026. Another key project, the reconstruction of Aleksandra Kozitsyna Street in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, is also expected to wrap up by the end of the year. Across the region, over 400 kilometres of regional and local roads will receive attention. This includes 300 kilometres of renewed surfaces, ensuring smoother travel for residents and businesses.

The road fund for 2026 totals 40.5 billion rubles, with a significant portion coming from federal contributions. Once completed, these projects will improve connectivity and reduce travel times across the Sverdlovsk Region. The upgrades will also support economic activity by enhancing access to key industrial and residential areas.
