Stephen Taylor to Retire from NGS Board After Two Decades of Leadership
Stephen Taylor, a long-serving leader at Natural Gas Services Group, Inc. (NGS), will retire from the board in 2026. His departure marks the end of nearly two decades at the helm, during which he shaped the company's growth and stability. The announcement follows his recent transition from executive roles to an advisory position.
Taylor first joined NGS as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board almost 20 years ago. Under his leadership qualities, the company expanded its operations nationwide, diversified its equipment offerings, and built one of the largest horsepower fleets in the industry. These moves helped establish NGS as a key player in the sector.
In February 2024, Taylor stepped down as CEO, passing the role to Justin Jacobs. He remained on the board and continued to provide guidance during the transition. Jacobs later expressed appreciation for Taylor's support, calling it invaluable during his early months in charge. By June 2025, Taylor shifted from Chairman of the Board to Chairman Emeritus. This change allowed him to stay involved while reducing his day-to-day responsibilities. He has since focused on sharing his institutional knowledge with the leadership team. Reflecting on his retirement, Taylor spoke of his pride in NGS's progress and his confidence in its future. Don Tringali, the current Chairman of the Board, also acknowledged Taylor's contributions, describing him as instrumental in building a resilient and successful company. Taylor will not seek re-election at the 2026 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, formally ending his board tenure.
Taylor's retirement concludes a significant chapter for NGS. His leadership qualities saw the company grow its market presence and strengthen its operations. The board and executive team will now continue without his direct involvement after decades of influence.
