Square Group and IDCOL launch 7.51 MWp solar projects to slash emissions and costs

A partnership between Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) and Square Group has successfully installed three rooftop solar projects with a total capacity of 7.51 MWp. The collaboration was celebrated at Square Group's corporate office on Sunday, highlighting progress in renewable energy adoption.

The three solar installations were completed between 2020 and early 2026, with IDCOL providing both financing and technical support. These projects now help Square Group cut carbon emissions, reduce energy expenses, and improve operational efficiency.

At the event, IDCOL's executive director and CEO, Alamgir Morshed, noted the organisation's broader impact. Since 2020, IDCOL has backed over 1,200 similar solar projects across Bangladesh, totalling more than 100 MW in capacity. He also emphasised IDCOL's ongoing role in financing renewable energy and encouraging private sector involvement in the country's clean energy shift.

Square Group director Eric S Chowdhury reaffirmed the company's dedication to sustainable practices. He stated that integrating clean energy solutions remains a key priority for their industrial operations.

The solar projects are already delivering measurable benefits, including lower energy costs and reduced environmental impact. With IDCOL's continued support, more businesses in Bangladesh are expected to adopt renewable energy systems in the coming years.
