SouthGobi delays key financial vote to August 2026 shareholder meeting
SouthGobi Resources Ltd., a coal producer with operations in Mongolia, has announced changes to its upcoming shareholder meetings. The company will hold its annual general meeting as planned but delay a vote on a key financial agreement until a later date. Shareholders will now consider the March 2026 Deferral Agreement at a separate special meeting before August 29, 2026. The annual and special meeting of shareholders is set for June 25, 2026, in Vancouver, Canada (June 26, 2026, in Hong Kong). Originally, the company intended to seek approval for the March 2026 Deferral Agreement at this gathering. However, that vote has been postponed.
Instead, the agreement will be presented for approval at a special meeting scheduled no later than August 29, 2026. Details of the deferral agreement will be included in the management information circular, which will be filed on SEDAR+ and sent to shareholders by the same date. SouthGobi operates the Ovoot Tolgoi coal mine in Mongolia and holds licences for additional coal deposits in the South Gobi region. Its primary business involves producing and selling coal to customers in China. The company’s board includes executive directors Mr. Ruibin Xu, Ms. Chonglin Zhu, and Mr. Chen Shen. Non-executive directors are Mr. Zhu Gao, Mr. Zaixiang Wen, Mr. Yingbin Ian He, Ms. Jin Lan Quan, and Mr. Fan Keung Vic Choi.
The annual general meeting will proceed on June 25, 2026, without the deferral agreement vote. Shareholders will receive further details in the management circular before the special meeting in August. The company’s operations in Mongolia and its coal sales to China remain unaffected by these procedural changes.
