Sochi rolls out expanded transport ahead of busy summer tourist season
Sochi is expanding its transport network ahead of the summer tourist season. New buses, trains, ferries, and a sea taxi service will all begin operating in June. The changes aim to improve travel options for residents and visitors alike. From June 12, a daily high-speed ferry will run between Sochi and Gelendzhik. The route will use the Kometa hydrofoil vessel, offering a quick connection between the two coastal cities. Meanwhile, the Sochi–Sukhumi ferry service will continue with 35 scheduled voyages until October.
The city is also boosting its bus network. An additional 37 buses will join the fleet, bringing the total to 264 modern buses and 10 electric models. In total, over 600 buses of different sizes will operate daily across Sochi.
Rail travel will see improvements too. The number of Lastochka suburban trains on intra-city routes will rise from 80 to 155 trips per day. This increase should help reduce overcrowding on popular lines.
A new sea taxi service will launch this summer, linking Sochi with Adler. The route will integrate into the city’s existing transport system, providing another option for travellers. The expanded transport services are designed to ease congestion during peak season. With more buses, trains, and marine routes, officials hope to make travel smoother for tourists and locals. The changes will remain in place throughout the summer months.
