A French startup called PvPilot has launched a smart energy system to help households use solar power more efficiently. The technology connects to appliances via a USB device and manages electricity flow through the home's electrical panel in real time.

The system works by linking to relay switches in the electrical panel, allowing users to control devices based on solar production and consumption. It supports all types of appliances and can be adjusted manually or set to run automatically. Homeowners can assign a target share of solar energy to each device, ensuring optimal use of generated power.

PvPilot's platform also optimises AC-coupled batteries for better solar-powered operation. Users monitor and adjust their energy use through a mobile app, giving them real-time control over consumption. According to a study by France's National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), visualising energy data can boost solar self-consumption by around 15%.

The system is already active in over 500 homes, with plans to expand to 3,000 installations by the end of the year. Florian Lizon, CEO of PvPilot, has highlighted the company's aim to develop a tool that adapts as the energy industry evolves. While no exact global figures exist for similar systems, over 100 German utilities offered decentralised solar solutions in 2025.

PvPilot's technology provides households with a flexible way to manage solar energy more effectively. The expansion to 3,000 installations by year-end reflects growing demand for real-time energy optimisation. The system's compatibility with various appliances and batteries makes it a practical choice for diverse home setups.
