Nearly 2,900 Statements on the State Development Plan - Saxony-Anhalt's Land Use Plan Nears Final Approval Amid Public Debate

Saxony-Anhalt is preparing to finalise its new state development plan this summer. The document will shape how land is used for industry, energy, transport, and conservation. Nearly 2,900 responses from the public and authorities have already been submitted on the draft version.

The current draft of the Landesentwicklungsplan does not yet list specific sites for industrial zones or wind turbines in forests. While the plan will eventually set these locations, the available details remain unclear. Public feedback has largely centred on energy supply, raw material security, nature protection, and transport needs.

The state government will use the responses to refine the plan before its final adoption. Once approved, the document will guide where new industries can expand and where renewable energy projects, like forest-based wind farms, may be built.

The final version of the plan is due to be adopted in the coming months. It will then serve as the official framework for land use decisions across Saxony-Anhalt. The high number of submissions suggests strong public interest in how the region balances economic growth with environmental protection.
