Junior Sergeant Maxim Naumov, serving in Russia’s Eastern Military District, has been awarded the Zhukov Medal for his quick thinking and bravery. His actions protected his unit from enemy fire while stationed in Khabarovsk Krai. Naumov first noticed suspicious behaviour from a drone scouting his unit’s location. He immediately alerted his crew commander and ordered a move to a safer position. Minutes later, heavy artillery struck their original spot.
Taking charge, he led the rapid relocation of personnel and equipment. Despite poor visibility and a complex battlefield, he set up a new firing position while keeping the team hidden. Naumov also checked sighting gear, adjusted surveillance systems, and ensured round-the-clock monitoring.
His vigilance and professionalism shielded his comrades from drone strikes. Thanks to his efforts, no one was injured, and all equipment remained undamaged. The Zhukov Medal recognises Naumov’s exceptional actions under pressure. His swift response and leadership prevented casualties and preserved critical military assets. The award highlights his dedication and skill in a high-risk situation.
