The director general of the Fregat ship repair base in Sevastopol has been accused of large-scale fraud in the execution of state defense contracts, the Investigative Committee reports.
According to investigators, the state customer signed multimillion-ruble contracts with the company in 2019 and 2022 for the maintenance and repair of military equipment. The work, however, was carried out using substandard materials.
The resulting damage to the state budget is estimated at 20 million rubles ($220,000). Criminal charges have been filed under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Fraud on an especially large scale").
At the investigators' request, the suspect's assets have been seized as part of the case.
