Russian school launches vineyard to teach students viticulture skills

Anapa’s School No. 2 has started an experimental vineyard as part of its agritechnology programme. The project gives students hands-on experience in viticulture, from planting young vines to harvesting grapes. It also supports Russia’s national push to develop in-demand vocational skills. The vineyard initiative is run in partnership with a local winery, under a long-term agreement. Students take an active role in planting and maintaining the vines, learning practical skills in grape cultivation. This training helps them explore career options and discover their strengths.

The programme aligns with Russia’s Human Resources national project, which promotes vocational trades. In Krasnodar Region, where skilled labour is in high demand, such projects are especially valuable. Anapa’s schools now offer over 100 career-focused classes, covering fields like education, healthcare, and agribusiness.

The vineyard project provides students with real-world experience in viticulture. It also strengthens ties between schools and local industries. By combining education with practical training, the initiative prepares students for future careers in agriculture.
