Russian port fined 150,000 rubles for illegal coal shipments
Posyet Commercial Port has been fined 150,000 rubles for breaking environmental laws. The company handled coal without a valid state environmental review approval. Authorities stepped in after discovering the violations during bulk cargo operations.
The Primorsky Transport Prosecutor’s Office first identified the issue when it found the port’s previous environmental approval had expired. Despite this, the company continued coal transshipment in Russian internal and territorial waters. The port was formally notified of its failure to comply with regulations.
An investigation confirmed that Posyet Commercial Port had violated Parts 4 and 5 of Article 8.13, as well as Part 1 of Article 8.4, of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses. The port was held administratively liable, resulting in the fine. Following the ruling, the port took corrective action. Operations were adjusted to meet legal requirements, ensuring compliance with environmental standards for bulk cargo handling.
The case has now concluded with the port bringing its activities into line with the law. The 150,000-ruble penalty stands as the final administrative measure. No further violations have been reported since the corrections were made.
