A senior official from the Interior Ministry’s district office in Polina Osipenko District has been jailed for taking a bribe. The officer, whose name was not disclosed, received an unusual payment—an office chair worth 42,000 rubles. The case follows another recent bribery incident in Khabarovsk involving a truck driver and a police officer. The convicted officer was found guilty of alerting a Chinese national about upcoming FSB security checks at Zoloto Kerbi LLC. By sharing this information, the inspections became ineffective. Investigators also discovered that the official knew workers at the company lacked proper permits but failed to act.
The court handed down a five-year prison sentence in a general-regime penal colony. Additionally, the officer must pay a fine ten times the value of the bribe. The chair, valued at 42,000 rubles, served as the illegal payment. This is the second bribery case in Khabarovsk within a short period. Earlier, a truck driver paid a police officer 380,000 rubles to avoid penalties.
The officer’s conviction highlights ongoing corruption issues within local law enforcement. The sentence includes both imprisonment and a substantial fine. Authorities continue to investigate similar cases in the region.
