A 32-year-old mother in Primorye’s Khankaysky District has been fined after leaving her two young daughters alone while she drank alcohol with a neighbour. The incident led to one child wandering outside and being hospitalised with bronchitis. The court found her guilty of endangering the children’s safety under Russian law.
The woman left her three-year-old and six-year-old daughters unattended at home late at night. Around 1 a.m., she went to a neighbour’s place, believing the children were asleep. While she was away, the younger girl wandered into the courtyard of their apartment complex.
A neighbour spotted the child and immediately called the police. The girl was taken to hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with bronchitis. Authorities later charged the mother under Article 125 of Russia’s Criminal Code for endangering the children’s lives. During the trial, the woman admitted full responsibility and expressed remorse. The court took her health condition and cooperation into account as mitigating factors. Despite this, the magistrate imposed a fine of 25,000 rubles. The family is now under supervision by the Commission on Minors’ Affairs. Social workers will conduct regular home visits to monitor the children’s welfare. The mother also faces a separate administrative charge for neglectful parenting.
The woman must pay the fine and comply with ongoing oversight from child protection services. Her daughters remain under social services’ watch to ensure their safety. The case highlights the legal consequences of leaving young children unattended.
