Russia's largest search-and-rescue training unites volunteers nationwide

A major training event for search-and-rescue volunteers will run in Nizhny Novgorod Region from June 12 to 19. The programme is backed by Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations and will include teams from across the country. Representatives from Khabarovsk Krai will also join the international gathering. Eight volunteers from Khabarovsk, Solnechny District, and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast will take part as members of the Liga Spas team. They will undergo intensive training in orienteering, topographic skills, wilderness survival, and first aid. The programme also covers the use of modern communication and reconnaissance tools.

The event focuses on improving methods for locating missing persons. Participants will share best practices, test new technologies, and work on strengthening ties between regions. It will finish with a two-day field training session to apply the skills learned. The gathering brings together volunteers and experts to enhance search-and-rescue operations. The training will refine techniques, introduce new equipment, and foster collaboration among regions. EMERCOM’s support ensures the event meets high professional standards.
