Russia approves gold bar exports via four key airports ahead of 2026 decree

Russia has approved the export of refined gold bars through four major airports. The move comes before a new presidential decree takes effect next year. Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseyev confirmed the decision. The government will allow gold bars over 100 grams to leave the country via three Moscow airports and one in Vladivostok. This change follows an announcement by Alexei Moiseyev, who oversees financial policy.

Customs officers will check export permits using mobile devices. The system aims to streamline inspections and ensure compliance.

The new rules will formally begin on May 1, 2026, under a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin. Until then, the temporary measures will remain in place. The decision opens a new route for gold exports before stricter regulations arrive. Four airports will handle shipments, with digital checks to confirm permits. The policy shift reflects Russia’s efforts to manage precious metal trade more efficiently.
