RB 25 Line Shuts Down for Months—Here's How to Navigate the Disruption
Major construction work will disrupt train services on the RB 25 line from late March. The project, lasting nearly five months, begins on March 27 and runs until August 7. Passengers face changes to their usual routes during this period.
From March 27 to August 7, trains on the RB 25 line will not run between Cologne Hansaring and Gummersbach-Dieringhausen. This section of the route will be fully closed for the entire duration. Instead, an extensive replacement bus service, labelled SEV RB 25, will operate between Cologne Messe/Deutz and Gummersbach.
Despite the closure, trains will still run hourly between Gummersbach-Dieringhausen and Lüdenscheid. The core replacement buses will cover the stretch between Köln-Frankfurter Straße and Gummersbach-Dieringhausen, ensuring passengers can still complete their journeys with a transfer.
The 4.5-month closure means travellers must plan for longer journey times and possible connections. The replacement buses will maintain links between key stations, but delays and adjustments should be expected. Normal train services are set to resume on August 8.
