Quixote Cuts 70 Jobs as Film and TV Production Slowdown Hits Hard

Quixote, a major supplier for film and TV productions, is scaling back operations in both Atlanta and Los Angeles. The move comes as parent company Hudson-Pacific cuts 70 jobs across the two cities. A prolonged slowdown in commercial, television, and film work has forced the decision. The company is winding down its sound stage business in Los Angeles while also closing its Atlanta operations. The cuts affect crews, vendors, and their families, according to Darius Evans, co-president of the Georgia Production Partnership. He described the situation as a market correction rather than the collapse of the industry.

Georgia currently hosts 26 active productions, including six feature films. Yet, the state faces growing competition as more projects move overseas. Lower costs and fewer union complications abroad have made international locations more appealing.

Evans acknowledged the impact but remained cautious about overstating the decline. The job losses reflect broader challenges in the sector, with production levels yet to recover fully. The reduction in staff and services marks a shift for Quixote and the wider industry. With 70 positions gone, the company’s pullback highlights ongoing pressures in film and TV production. Georgia’s production scene continues, but overseas competition is reshaping where projects are made.
