Porsche has reported a sharp drop in profits for 2025, with net income plummeting by 91.4% to just €310 million. The luxury carmaker also warned of further sales declines in 2026, though it expects profitability to recover to over 5%.

The company's struggles stem from multiple challenges. Vehicle deliveries in China, once a key market, fell by 26% in 2025 to around 41,000 units—far below the nearly 100,000 sold in 2021. Higher tariffs in the U.S. and a slower-than-expected shift to electric vehicles added to the pressure.

Porsche's decision to extend production of internal combustion engines played a major role in its financial slump. Billions spent on prolonging combustion engine output nearly erased profits for the year. Despite the push for electrification, many sports car buyers still prefer traditional engines, forcing the brand to adjust its strategy. The company recorded almost no profit in 2025. Looking ahead, it anticipates another decline in sales for 2026 but remains confident that profitability will rebound to above 5%

Porsche's financial setback reflects broader industry shifts and regional market struggles. With combustion engine production costs weighing heavily, the brand must now balance tradition with the accelerating demand for electric mobility. The coming year will test whether its profitability targets can be met.
