PayPal teams with Yellow Card to streamline PYUSD remittances in Africa
PayPal has chosen Yellow Card as a Xoom disbursement partner for its dollar-pegged stablecoin, PYUSD. The collaboration aims to improve cross-border payments in emerging markets. These transactions currently face high costs and slow processing times. Yellow Card operates as one of the largest licensed stablecoin infrastructure providers. It serves 34 countries, including 20 in Africa. The platform allows banks, fintechs, and enterprises to access, store, and manage stablecoins in local currencies.
In May 2026, Mastercard partnered with Yellow Card to pilot stablecoin-enabled payments across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Visa also uses the platform for treasury operations and liquidity management in these regions.
For secure wallet infrastructure, Yellow Card relies on Turnkey’s Embedded Wallet Kit. This solution offers the fastest way to deploy a working embedded wallet for stablecoin payments. Users can authenticate via email or social login without handling seed phrases or private keys.
Traditional cross-border payments in emerging markets cost an average of 6.36% per transaction and take days to settle. Stablecoins provide a dollar-pegged alternative with near-instant settlement. They help avoid correspondent banking markups and delays. The partnership between PayPal and Yellow Card expands PYUSD’s reach for remittances. Turnkey’s wallet technology simplifies access to stablecoin payments. This setup could reduce costs and speed up transactions in emerging markets.
