POL-EL: A30 Motorway – Grossly Overloaded Truck Stopped by Police

Overloaded Croatian truck stopped on A30 with 75% excess weight

Last night, officers from the traffic enforcement unit of the operational support division pulled over a Croatian semi-trailer truck on the A30 motorway.

The truck had entered the motorway at the Gildehaus junction from Nordhorn, heading toward Osnabrück. Carrying a mobile crane, it had departed from the Nordhorn-Blanke industrial area and was en route to Croatia. Due to the conspicuous load and excessive length, officers checked the required permit. While the driver could present the documentation, it only authorized the vehicle's length and a maximum permissible weight of 40 tonnes.

A subsequent weighing at a nearby rest area using a mobile axle-load scale revealed an actual gross weight of 70,150 kilograms—over 75 percent above the legal limit.

After the driver posted a security deposit of €1,670, authorities prohibited further travel. The responsible company must now arrange a suitable truck combination to transport the crane legally.
