Omsk's Route 109 bus crisis leaves commuters stranded for years
Residents in Omsk have raised concerns over persistent bus shortages on Route No. 109. The route, which links the city's left bank to the railway station via the TV Centre bridge, has faced complaints for years. Officials now say no extra buses can be added to the line due to limited resources.
A local woman has spoken out about the lack of additional buses on Route No. 109, calling it a long-standing issue. She claims the problem has gone unresolved for more than five years.
City authorities confirmed that no more municipal buses can be assigned to the route. All available vehicles are already in use on existing services, leaving no room for expansion. While past cancellations in Omsk Oblast were linked to warming weather, no full bus routes were scrapped in 2023 due to such conditions. The route remains a key connection for commuters travelling between the left bank and the railway station. However, with no extra buses available, passengers continue to face delays and overcrowding.
The shortage of buses on Route No. 109 is expected to persist, as officials have ruled out adding more vehicles. Commuters relying on the service will need to continue managing with the current limited capacity. No immediate solutions have been proposed by the city.
