Omsk region relaunches eight ferry routes to reconnect rural communities
Four new ferry routes launched on 1 May across the Omsk region. The services connect rural communities separated by rivers and lakes. Officials also reopened four additional crossings just days earlier, improving transport links for local residents. On 24 April, authorities restored operations on the Izuk, Znamenskaya, Ust-Shishovskaya, and Nikolskaya ferries. The Izuk route now links Tevriz with Alexandrovka, while the Znamenskaya connects Znamenskoye and Kachukovo. Meanwhile, the Ust-Shishovskaya ferry serves Tuzakly, Ust-Shish, and Novoyagodnoye, and the Nikolskaya route runs between Ust-Ishim and Malaya Bicha.
A week later, four more crossings opened. The Pologrudovskaya ferry started running between Butakovo and Pologrudovo, and the Bolsherechenskaya route now connects Muromtsevo with Bolsherechye. The Beloyarskaya ferry links Tevriz and Kuznetsovo, while the Borodinskaya route bridges Nagorno-Ayevsk and Borodinka. These services follow seasonal closures, with authorities resuming operations as ice melts and water levels stabilise. The new and restored routes aim to ease travel for residents in remote areas.
The eight ferry crossings now provide regular transport across key waterways. Local officials confirmed all routes are running on schedule, reducing travel times for communities. The services will remain active until winter conditions force another pause later this year.
