Omsk–Muromtsevo highway upgrade to boost access to top tourist lakes
A major overhaul of the Omsk–Muromtsevo–Sedelnikovo highway is set to begin soon. The Road Management Directorate of Omsk Oblast has opened a tender for the project, which covers an 11-kilometre stretch from the 219th to the 230th kilometre. This section provides key access to popular tourist spots in Muromtsevo District, including Lake Lenyovo, Lake Potayennoye, and the well-known Five Lakes. Contractors have until June 22, 2026, to submit their bids for the work. The winning company will be announced three days later, on June 25, 2026. The maximum starting value of the contract has been set at 397.3 million rubles.
The selected contractor will carry out a full range of improvements. Tasks include cutting back roadside embankments, restoring shoulders, and recycling old asphalt. New layers of asphalt will be laid, shoulders reinforced, and updated road signs and markings installed. Work must start immediately after the tender decision. The deadline for completion is October 15, 2027. If the project stays on track, tourists could use the refurbished road as early as the following summer.
The upgrade aims to improve travel conditions on a busy route leading to some of Omsk Oblast’s most visited natural attractions. With a clear timeline and budget in place, the project is expected to enhance both safety and convenience for drivers. Final results of the tender will be made public in late June 2026.
