Public Transport to be Free for World Cup in NL; Aiming to Facilitate Fans' Arrival at Stadium

Nuevo León rolls out free Metro rides for FIFA World Cup fans

Nuevo León has upgraded its Metro system ahead of the FIFA World Cup. Governor Samuel García announced free public transport for match attendees, including routes to the stadium and Fan Fest. The improvements also cover accessibility, comfort, and weather protection at key stations. The FIFA transit corridor was finished on schedule and is now in use. This includes expanded roofing at Exposición and Y Griega stations, ensuring full platform coverage. These upgrades enhance universal accessibility and shield passengers from the weather.

Metrorrey has also focused on security and technology to improve the travel experience. World Cup-themed murals, part of the Trazos Mundialistas program, now decorate the stations. Artist representative Paco Reyes noted that such art fosters a sense of community in public spaces.

Free Metro travel will connect Y Griega Station to Expo Station, covering the route between the stadium and Fundidora Park. Exclusive services will run from the city centre to the stadium for match days. The free transport scheme applies to all FIFA World Cup events in Nuevo León. Expanded roofing and artistic touches aim to make the journey more comfortable and engaging. These changes are already in place for fans and regular commuters alike.
