Nizhny Novgorod trains 63 teachers to boost agrotech education expansion

Sixty-three teachers in the Nizhny Novgorod region have completed a training programme focused on project-based learning in agrotechnological education. The course, funded by a 2 million ruble allocation from the regional budget, aimed to strengthen practical teaching skills for a growing network of specialised classes. The initiative follows last year’s launch of twelve agrotechnological classes under the federal project Personnel for the Agro-Industrial Complex. This year, the region plans to expand further with eight additional classes. To support the effort, extra funding was set aside for classroom upgrades, modern equipment, and performance bonuses for teachers.

The training was organised by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Institute of Management and Economics for the Agro-Industrial Complex. Over several weeks, participants developed skills in project design, from brainstorming ideas to execution. They also learned to work with external partners, including local agro-industrial businesses and research centres.

At the end of the course, teachers presented their projects to an expert panel. Proposals included setting up school greenhouses and introducing digital tools for farming. The regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food Resources confirmed the programme’s successful completion. With new funding and trained educators, the region is preparing to expand its agrotechnological programme. The eight planned classes will join the existing twelve, increasing opportunities for students. The focus remains on hands-on learning and partnerships with industry professionals.
