Nizhny Novgorod school partners with Sevmash to boost engineering education
Educators from School No. 183 in Nizhny Novgorod have signed a cooperation deal with Sevmash, one of Russia's largest shipbuilding firms. The agreement was finalised during a national conference in Severodvinsk, focusing on strengthening engineering education for students. The conference, titled Building Russia's Engineering Potential, gathered representatives from 15 regions. Teachers from Nizhny Novgorod presented their experience with specialised engineering classes, including subject Olympiads, intensive training courses, and a mentorship system.
School No. 183 already collaborates on industry-led projects and recently hosted the Sevmash-organised Shipbuilding Olympiad. As part of the visit, attendees toured Sevmash's production sites, observing submarine construction firsthand. Nizhny Novgorod's Sormovo District runs an educational shipbuilding cluster, linking multiple schools with industrial partners like the Krasnoye Sormovo plant. The new agreement builds on this existing framework to expand student opportunities in engineering.
The partnership will further integrate school programmes with shipbuilding industry needs. Students in Nizhny Novgorod and beyond are set to gain access to more specialised training and practical experience. The initiative reflects broader efforts to align education with key industrial sectors.
