Nizhny Novgorod's cableway project enters major construction phase over Oka River
NIZHNY NOVGOROD, April 20 – Temporary pedestrian routes will be set up in Nizhny Novgorod during the construction of the cableway across the Oka River, ensuring access near construction sites in different parts of the city.
The main phase of the project is now underway, with increased machinery and construction activity at the sites. Meanwhile, traffic along Zarechny Boulevard remains unchanged, according to UrbanTech Cableways JSC.
To minimize disruption for residents, temporary walkways and covered crossings will be installed, preserving access to familiar routes even near active work zones.
Access to the sites near Tikhaya Gavan station and Tower No. 9 will be provided from Baumana Street. The construction area near Prospekt Gagarina, as well as Towers No. 15 and No. 17, will be accessible from the eponymous highway.
Temporary road signs and warning markers will be placed at vehicle entry and exit points. Additionally, construction zones will be enclosed with illuminated barriers for visibility at night and in poor weather.
Special emphasis has been placed on pedestrian safety and maintaining connectivity between districts. Residents will be able to use both existing sidewalks and designated detours.
Svetlana Trishina, the company's director of project implementation, noted that these comprehensive measures will help mitigate the impact of construction on the city and prevent additional strain on road networks.
The project includes three stations—Zarechnaya, Tikhaya Gavan, and Prospekt Gagarina. Once construction is complete, temporary structures will be removed, and the areas will be restored.
Earlier, 80 tons of cable for the Oka River crossing were delivered to Nizhny Novgorod.
