Nizhny Novgorod Region Launches Nationwide "Pathfinders of Meaning: A New Route" Program

A new federal initiative, "Pathfinders of Meaning: A New Route," has kicked off in the Nizhny Novgorod region, aiming to systematically engage high school students (grades 9–11), university undergraduates, and vocational college students in youth policy and federal, regional, and municipal youth projects. The program is designed to help young people discover opportunities for self-realization in their region and across the country.

The initiative is part of the national project "Youth and Children" and is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) in partnership with the Directorate for Youth Forums and Programs. In 2026, the program will run in two phases—spring and fall.

"A key feature of this program is that we don't just invite young people to participate—we create a system where opportunities come directly to them through outreach sessions," said Svetlana Anufrieva, Minister of Youth Policy for the Nizhny Novgorod region. "The model is built on peer-to-peer interaction, ensuring consistent communication between participants and facilitators. Special emphasis is placed on tailoring the approach to regional audiences and gradually immersing them in project-based activities."

From April to June, the program will reach at least 10,000 high school students and 5,000 vocational college students across 18 municipalities in the Nizhny Novgorod region, with over 500 sessions planned.

The meetings will follow a specially designed format adapted to the region's needs—a "navigator of opportunities" for young people, combining real-life scenarios, success stories, and interactive elements. Facilitators will use both digital and traditional tools, accounting for the specifics of each educational institution.

The sessions will be led by "Pathfinders of Meaning" teams, comprising youth specialists, educators, alumni of youth programs, public organization representatives, activists, and leaders from partner organizations. Each facilitator completed federal online training to obtain official certification. Additionally, the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Youth Policy, together with the Vysota Youth Center, organized regional online and in-person meetings to introduce the local facilitator teams and familiarize them with the regional presentation materials for the sessions.

Recall that starting in 2025, Russia launched the Youth and Children national project on the instruction of President Vladimir Putin, consolidating the objectives previously outlined in the Education and Science and Universities national projects. The initiative aims to create opportunities for young people to develop their talents and fulfill their potential, fostering a sense of responsibility and strong moral values.

At its core, the project focuses on constructing and renovating schools, upgrading teacher qualifications, introducing innovative teaching methods, and ensuring comfortable learning environments. Special emphasis is placed on supporting gifted youth, including young professionals.

The national project comprises nine federal programs: "Russia: A Land of Opportunity,""We Are Together,""Russia in the World,""The Best for Children,""Leading Schools,""Teachers and Mentors,""Building a Network of Modern Campuses,""Universities for a Generation of Leaders," and "Professional Excellence."
