Nigeria Customs Smashes Revenue Records Under Onyeka's Leadership in 2025

The Nigeria Customs Service Tin Can Island Port Command has reported record-breaking revenue under Frank Onyeka’s leadership. In 2025, the command collected N1.60 trillion, surpassing its annual target of N1.52 trillion. This success led to Onyeka’s recent promotion to Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs. The command’s financial performance improved steadily throughout Onyeka’s tenure. Between January and June 2025, it generated N747.07 billion—a 29.85% increase compared to the same period in 2024. By the end of the first half, it had already achieved 98.03% of its half-year revenue target.

Key operational changes contributed to this growth. The introduction of the Bodogwu clearance system streamlined processes and boosted efficiency. Anti-smuggling efforts also intensified, with seizures worth over N35 billion recorded during Onyeka’s time in charge. The strong momentum continued into early 2026. In the first quarter alone, the command recorded N401.01 billion in revenue. Following these achievements, Onyeka handed over leadership to Comptroller Joe Anani after his promotion.

The Tin Can Island Port Command now operates with a higher revenue baseline after exceeding its 2025 target. Onyeka’s promotion reflects the command’s improved financial and operational performance. The new leadership will take over with a system that has already demonstrated significant growth.
