New Far East tourist route links Russia, China and North Korea by May

A new international tourist route will soon connect Russia, China, and North Korea. The journey begins and ends in Vladivostok, offering travellers a mix of cultural and scenic experiences across three distinct destinations. Officials plan to launch the route as early as May this year.

Another separate initiative, the Pacific Cruise line, will also start operations around the same time. This maritime service will link Primorsky Krai, Kamchatka, and Sakhalin, providing an additional option for exploring Russia’s Far East. The overland route starts in Vladivostok, where tourists can arrange transfers, book accommodations, and join guided programmes. From there, the trip moves through Khasansky District before crossing into North Korea and China. Travel between countries will involve both bus and rail transport, with standard border checks at each crossing.

In North Korea, visitors will follow a tightly controlled itinerary. They can explore approved guided sites, visit souvenir shops, and stay in designated hotels. Meanwhile, the Chinese leg of the trip allows for greater freedom, letting tourists explore more independently.

The Pacific Cruise line, set to begin in May, will offer a different kind of journey. This service will connect key coastal regions—Primorsky Krai, Kamchatka, and Sakhalin—letting passengers experience the contrasts between these remote and culturally rich areas. Both routes aim to highlight the diversity of the Far East, from urban hubs to natural landscapes and distinct national traditions. The two new routes will expand travel options in Russia’s Far East. The overland journey links three countries, while the cruise line focuses on coastal exploration. Both projects are expected to attract visitors looking for unique cultural and scenic experiences in the region.
