New Direct Bus Route Connects Tegernsee and Jenbach in 2025
Hourly from Tegernsee to Jenbach - new bus line from 2027 - New Direct Bus Route Connects Tegernsee and Jenbach in 2025
A new direct bus service will link Tegernsee in Bavaria and Jenbach in Tyrol from next year. The route aims to improve cross-border travel and reduce car journeys on the busy Achen Pass.
The bus will run hourly from around 6:20 a.m. to 7:20 p.m., with up to 14 daily departures in each direction. The journey between the two railway hubs will take just over an hour and 13 minutes, offering a faster alternative to driving.
Tyrol's transport councilor René Zumtobel called the project a landmark in regional transport policy. The service is expected to boost tourism, simplify commuting, and strengthen rail connections between Tyrol's Inn Valley and the greater Munich area. Austria, Tyrol, and Bavaria are jointly funding the initiative. Austrian Transport Minister Peter Hanke also announced plans for more interregional bus routes across Austria, with this Tyrol-Bavaria link serving as the first step.
The new route will provide a seamless cross-border connection without transfers. It is designed to cut private vehicle use while improving access to key transport networks. Daily operations will begin next year.
