New bypass road in Primorsky Territory nears completion after bridge collapse
A new bypass road in Primorsky Territory’s Khorolsky District is almost finished. The project replaces a bridge that collapsed under the weight of an oversized truck. Officials now expect the route to open by this evening. The original bridge gave way after a heavy vehicle crossed it, forcing residents of Sivakovka to rely on a ferry. Construction of the temporary bypass began shortly after, with regional transport minister Alexei Ignatenko overseeing the launch.
Workers have since installed seven culverts and completed the embankment. Thirteen units of heavy machinery were used to speed up the process. The road is now 90% finished, with only final touches remaining.
Meanwhile, investigators have opened a criminal case into the bridge collapse. They have visited the site, interviewed witnesses, and requested forensic tests to determine the cause. The bypass road will restore direct access to Sivakovka once it opens later today. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances behind the bridge failure. The new route aims to prevent further disruptions for local residents.
