New 10 MVA transformer boosts Panvel's power supply reliability

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has commissioned a new 10 MVA power transformer at its 33/11 kV substation in Sector 15, New Panvel. The upgrade aims to improve electricity supply for thousands of local consumers and strengthen the city’s distribution network for future demand. The decision follows rising electricity demand in the area. Existing transformers at Sector 7 and Sector 15 substations had been operating under increased load, affecting supply stability. To address this, MSEDCL installed and commissioned the new transformer at Sector 15.

The first step involved shifting the load of the 11 kV Shreyas feeder to the new transformer at around 3 pm. In the next phase, the loads of the 11 kV Sector 3 and Sector 5 feeders will also be transferred. This will reduce pressure on the Sector 7 substation and balance the overall distribution network.

The project is designed to enhance the quality, reliability, and continuity of power supply. By redistributing the load across feeders, the network is expected to become more efficient and resilient. The new transformer will provide a more stable and uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers across Panvel. It will also support the city’s long-term growth by reinforcing its distribution infrastructure. The upgrades are set to benefit thousands of residents and businesses in the region.
