Navi Mumbai reclaims 110 hectares after mass demolition of illegal structures

Over the past two years, CIDCO has demolished 5,804 unauthorised constructions across Navi Mumbai. The drive targeted nearly 110 hectares of encroached land, clearing space for major infrastructure projects. Officials confirmed that notices were issued to occupants before any demolition took place. The action focused on lands reserved for critical developments, including the Kharghar-Turbhe Link Road (KTLR), Metro corridors, and the NAINA project. Alongside these, areas earmarked for the International Corporate Park were also cleared. Public notices had been published in newspapers to inform encroachers before evictions began.

Hundreds of eviction drives were carried out in Navi Mumbai and NAINA regions. In the KTLR project, hutments blocking the proposed road alignment were removed with cooperation from slum residents. To prevent further encroachments, CIDCO installed fencing and compound walls around the reclaimed plots. CIDCO also registered cases against individuals involved in illegal debris dumping and soil theft from its land. The reclaimed areas will now support upcoming projects such as Aerocity, Educity, Medicity, Logistic Park, and an Entertainment Arena.

The demolition drives have freed up significant land for planned developments in Navi Mumbai. CIDCO has reiterated its commitment to protecting public land and ensuring structured growth. The cleared sites will now move forward with infrastructure and urban projects as originally intended.
