NATO forces recently completed a large-scale live-fire exercise in Estonia during harsh winter conditions. Troops from Estonia, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States took part in the five-day drills. The training involved heavy armour, artillery, and rocket systems operating together on snow-covered terrain. The exercise featured a mix of armoured vehicles and artillery from each participating nation. Estonian CV90s, French AMX-10s, British Challenger 2 tanks, and U.S. M1A2 Abrams tanks manoeuvred alongside Archer 155mm howitzers and MLRS systems. Footage showed British and American units conducting live firing at various ranges.

The drills tested troops' ability to handle live munitions in freezing temperatures. Units practised engaging targets while moving through deep snow, replicating realistic combat scenarios. Such exercises are designed to maintain readiness and improve coordination between allied forces.

The United Kingdom leads NATO's battlegroup in Estonia, which includes around 1,500 personnel from the UK, France, and Iceland. U.S. forces, stationed in Estonia under a bilateral agreement, also regularly train with NATO units to strengthen regional defence capabilities. The February exercise demonstrated NATO's ability to operate heavy armour and artillery in extreme winter conditions. It reinforced cooperation between allied troops while ensuring they remain prepared for real-world operations. The training aligns with ongoing efforts to maintain security in the Baltic region.
