Musikviertel launches road upgrades with pothole fixes and major redesigns ahead
Road maintenance and reconstruction projects are moving forward in the Musikviertel city district. Crews have already repaired potholes on six sections, with further grading work scheduled for this week. Officials have also outlined plans for major upgrades, including the redesign of key streets in the coming years.
In February, workers completed pothole repairs on six road sections. This week, grading will begin on 17 additional stretches to keep surfaces smooth and safe. These efforts aim to extend the lifespan of existing routes while preparing for larger upgrades.
Design work for Shalyapin Street, between Agrokhimicheskaya and Rossiyskaya, is set to finish by the end of this year. A more extensive project will follow: the full reconstruction of Yesenin Street, from Gomelskaya to Petra Metalnikova. This phase will include a three-lane road, new utility networks, stormwater drainage, sidewalks, and a dedicated bike lane.
Looking ahead, Yevgeny Naumov announced plans to develop reconstruction projects for 14 road sections by 2026. The list includes Angarskaya, Almaznaya, Tchaikovsky Street, Adlerskaya, Gomelskaya, Agrokhimicheskaya, Kukharenko Street, Sholokhov Street, Kontsevich Street, Mussorgsky Street, Dunayevsky Street, Rachmaninoff Street, Prokofiev Street, and Almazny Lane. However, no funding details for these projects have been released.
The city is pushing ahead with both short-term repairs and long-term improvements. Maintenance work continues this week, while design and reconstruction plans progress for key streets. Officials have not yet specified how the projects will be financed.
