Moscow-Vorkuta direct flights return after years of delays in 2026

Direct flights between Moscow and Vorkuta will return after years of disruption. The route, set to relaunch on 24 April 2026, follows months of negotiations and funding discussions. Officials have now confirmed ticket sales are open, with prices starting at 10,000 rubles for a basic fare.

The push to restore the Moscow-Vorkuta air link began with calls from local lawmakers. Ruslan Magomedov and Dmitry Svistukhin, deputies in Komi's State Council, raised the issue of improving transport to the Arctic region. Their efforts led to discussions on subsidies and airline readiness.

RusLine airline had long been prepared to operate the route. The carrier waited for confirmation of 23 million rubles in regional funding before proceeding. In early 2026, Dmitry Bratyunenko, chairman of the Komi government, finalised the arrangements during a visit to Vorkuta. Igor Guryev, head of Vorkuta's city administration, later announced the official reopening date. Flights from Vorkuta to Moscow will depart every Friday at 4:00 PM, with a journey time exceeding three hours. Tickets are now on sale through RusLine's website, offering a basic fare of 10,000 rubles or 11,000 rubles with checked baggage. The route had earlier been included in Russia's subsidised flights programme. However, delays occurred as funding details were resolved between regional and federal authorities.

The resumption of flights marks a key step in reconnecting Vorkuta with the capital. Passengers can now book tickets online, with the first departure scheduled for late April 2026. The service aims to improve travel options for residents and workers in the Arctic region.
