MMRDA shortlists three firms for Thane's new creek bridge project
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has taken a key step toward building a new creek bridge in Thane. The project will link Kolshet and Kalher, improving travel between the eastern and western parts of the district. Three firms have now been shortlisted after a competitive bidding process.
Five companies initially submitted bids for the bridge’s design and construction. However, Ajwani Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and Gawar Construction Limited failed the technical evaluation. Their proposals were rejected early in the process.
Among the remaining contenders, SMS Limited emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) with a quote of Rs 498.1 crore. NCC Limited followed closely as the second-lowest (L2) at Rs 503.2 crore. Aakshya Infra Projects Pvt Ltd secured the third position (L3) with a bid of Rs 507.4 crore. The proposed bridge aims to boost east-west connectivity in Thane. Once completed, it will serve as an additional crossing over the creek, easing traffic flow in the area. MMRDA will now conduct a final review of the top bidder’s proposal. After securing the required approvals, the authority will issue a formal letter of award to the winning company.
The creek bridge project marks a significant infrastructure upgrade for Thane district. With SMS Limited currently leading the bid, construction could begin once the final administrative steps are cleared. The new crossing is set to provide a vital transport link for local residents and commuters.
