Mi Clip launches Mexico's new digital wallet to boost financial inclusion
Clip has launched Mi Clip, a new digital wallet ecosystem in Mexico. The platform aims to broaden financial inclusion in a country where nearly 40% of adults still lack access to formal financial services. Mi Clip promises secure and accessible digital payments for users and businesses alike. Mi Clip provides digital wallet accounts for daily payments, savings, and credit options. It is designed to handle high-volume transactions, including major shopping events like Buen Fin. The service also plans to enable overseas payments for users and allow local merchants to accept international wallets in the future.
The platform is backed by major partners: Clip, Ant International, Mastercard, and Televisa-Univision. It combines Clip’s existing merchant network with Ant International’s AI-driven payment systems. Mastercard’s global network and Televisa-Univision’s media reach further strengthen its capabilities.
Clip’s CEO, Adolfo Babatz, described Mi Clip as a tool that brings the security and opportunities of digital finance to more people. The initiative seeks to speed up digital payments, increase merchant adoption, and expand access to formal financial services across Mexico. Mi Clip is now available as a new financial solution for Mexican consumers and businesses. Its backers aim to make digital transactions easier and more widespread. The ecosystem is set to grow with additional features like cross-border payments in the coming months.
