Marratxi has completed repairs on several unpaved rural roads after residents raised concerns about their deteriorating condition. The project aimed to address long-standing issues like potholes, uneven surfaces, and dust, which had made travel difficult for locals and farmers alike.
The works were led by the municipality’s Environment department as part of a wider rural maintenance plan. Heavy machinery was brought in to level uneven terrain, reinforce weak surfaces, and improve overall safety on the roads. These routes are vital for agricultural access, maintenance vehicles, and residents living in less urbanised parts of the area.
Councillor Manuel Vega explained that the intervention was designed to keep connections between residential and farming zones safer. He also highlighted the importance of protecting the rural landscape from further erosion and weather damage. The repairs come just before the busy summer months, when increased traffic could worsen existing problems. Local farmers and property owners have welcomed the changes. They say the restored tracks will make daily journeys smoother and reduce risks linked to poor road conditions.
The improvements are expected to enhance mobility and cut future repair costs by preventing further deterioration. Marratxi continues to fund similar projects across both urban and rural zones, focusing on better public services and environmental preservation.
