Major train cancellations hit Nizhny Novgorod–Kazan route this month
Track repairs will disrupt train services between Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan later this month. Several commuter routes have been cancelled on specific dates in late March and April. Passengers are being offered alternative transport to minimise inconvenience.
The cancellations affect trains on March 30 and April 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, and 27. On these days, services 7001, 7002, 7004, and 7006 from Nizhny Novgorod to Kazan will not run. The same applies to trains 7019, 7020, 7022, and 7024 on the same route.
Return journeys from Kazan to Nizhny Novgorod will also see disruptions. Trains 7007, 7009, 7011, and 7012, along with 7013, 7015, 7017, and 7018, have been cancelled on the same dates. Additionally, routes from Arzamas to Surovatikha Station will operate on shortened schedules during this period. To help affected travellers, the Volga-Vyatka Suburban Passenger Company has arranged replacement bus services. Shuttle buses will run between Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan stations, providing a direct alternative for those unable to use the trains.
The temporary cancellations come as part of essential maintenance work on the railway line. Passengers are advised to check schedules in advance and use the provided bus services where needed. The changes will remain in effect until the track repairs are completed.
