Magadan driver wins lawsuit after hospital roof debris wrecks car
A Magadan resident has won a civil case after their car was damaged by falling roof debris from a children’s hospital. The incident took place on December 5, 2025, when strong winds tore slate sheets from the roof of Lyubov Artyomyevna Gordeyeva Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital. The debris struck an Omoda C5, causing significant damage.
The plaintiff’s vehicle suffered extensive harm, including dents to the roof, frame reinforcement ribs, and rear spoiler. The right rear fender was also damaged, with total repairs estimated at 121,200 rubles. The court ruled that Lasartstroy LLC, the company responsible for construction work at the hospital, had failed to secure materials properly.
Unsafe working conditions and poor maintenance were identified as the primary causes of the accident. While the Magadan Regional Center for Maternal and Child Health was initially named in the lawsuit, the court dismissed all claims against it. Instead, Lasartstroy LLC was held fully liable for the damages. In addition to covering the repair costs, the company was ordered to pay the plaintiff’s legal expenses. The final compensation amounted to 166,362 rubles and 91 kopecks.
The ruling confirms that Lasartstroy LLC must compensate the car owner for both vehicle repairs and legal fees. The case highlights the importance of proper construction site safety measures to prevent similar incidents. The total awarded sum reflects the full cost of damages and associated expenses.
