Madhya Pradesh cracks down on fertiliser dealers ahead of kharif season
The Agriculture Department in Madhya Pradesh has suspended the licences of four fertiliser dealers in Alot. The move follows inspections that revealed violations of the state’s e-token-based distribution system. The action was taken just before the kharif season began. The state government introduced the e-Vikas (e-token) system on 1 April to regulate fertiliser sales. Under this system, dealers must distribute fertiliser only through the e-Vikas platform. Its purpose is to streamline sales, stop irregularities, and ensure fair distribution to farmers.
During recent checks, the fertiliser monitoring team found several dealers breaking the rules. The department then suspended the licences of Arihant Traders, Balaji Enterprises, Navpad Traders, and Kutubi Fertilisers in Alot with immediate effect. Collector Misha Singh directed the action ahead of the kharif planting season.
Authorities have warned that strict penalties under the Fertiliser Control Order, 1985, will apply to anyone selling fertilisers without an e-token. The department will keep conducting inspection drives to prevent violations that harm farmers’ interests. The suspensions aim to enforce compliance with the e-Vikas system. This ensures transparency and accountability in fertiliser distribution. The department has stated it will not tolerate further breaches of the rules.
