Loveland's North Taft Avenue gets major water and storm upgrades
The North Taft Avenue Water and Storm Improvements Project in Loveland, Colorado, has officially wrapped up. City officials say the upgrades will make the water system more reliable and prepare the area for future growth. The project focused on replacing old underground infrastructure along North Taft Avenue, between 18th Street and 29th Street. Crews swapped out ageing 12-inch cast-iron water pipes with larger 16-inch, 20-inch, and 24-inch versions. They also installed new drainage pipes and built fresh stormwater outlets leading into Lake Loveland.
Recently, workers finished curb and gutter repairs, laid new asphalt, and repainted road markings. However, some stormwater tasks remain incomplete due to high water levels. If conditions improve, these will be finalised this winter.
The last phase of the project includes stabilising the shoreline, adding erosion controls, and replacing rocks. These changes aim to boost drainage, cut flood risks, and safeguard the lake’s water quality. The completed work is set to enhance the area’s infrastructure and support its long-term development plans.
