KTZ Launches Sweeping Social Initiatives to Uplift Kazakhstan's Communities
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) has launched a series of social initiatives aimed at improving quality of life and supporting regional development. The programmes benefit employees, retirees, children, and local communities across Kazakhstan. In the first five months of this year, over 9,200 employees and 7,100 participants joined KTZ-organised sports clubs and events. The company also provided social assistance to more than 45,000 retirees, offering medical care and anniversary bonuses.
KTZ expanded its support for families by purchasing 7,372 vouchers for children’s health camps. Additionally, 100 children from large railway worker families in remote stations received bicycles, Lego sets, and educational toys as gifts.
Educational efforts included career guidance for over 400 high school and college students at the central KTZ museum. The company also ran video contests and essay competitions under the theme Railways Through the Eyes of Children to encourage interest in railway careers.
Infrastructure projects featured a new 140-place kindergarten in Zharkent, built as part of the modernisation of the Altynkol–Zhetygen railway section. In partnership with Wabtec, KTZ is constructing a creative centre in Sekseul and an art school in Shalkar. The company continues to back charitable and environmental initiatives, such as the Paralympic Center in Astana and the Help the Birds campaign in Karaganda. KTZ’s programmes have reached thousands of people through education, health, and community projects. The initiatives demonstrate a broad commitment to social welfare, cultural development, and regional growth across Kazakhstan.
