Krasnodar Territory upgrades key freight and passenger route by 2026
A major road upgrade is now in progress along the Tbilisskaya–Kropotkin route in Russia's Krasnodar Territory. The 7.1-kilometre stretch between Tbilisskaya and Kazanskaya stations is being repaired to improve safety and durability. Authorities have stressed the importance of this route, which carries heavy freight traffic and serves school buses and public transport. Crews have already removed old asphalt, filled potholes, and set up temporary signs and barriers. Current efforts focus on fixing ruts and subsidence issues along the road. The next step will involve laying a levelling base to ensure vehicles distribute weight evenly.
The project falls under the federal Regional and Local Road Network initiative. By 2026, a total of 32.7 kilometres of core roads in the region will meet updated standards. Inspectors from the regional transport ministry visit the site regularly to check material quality and compliance with construction rules.
Yevgeny Pergun, deputy governor of Krasnodar Territory, highlighted that well-maintained roads directly benefit local residents. Work is expected to finish by November 2026, with the route remaining under close supervision due to its critical role in transport. The upgrade will strengthen a key freight and passenger corridor in Krasnodar Territory. Once complete, the road will meet modern standards, reducing wear and improving travel conditions. Officials confirm that all repairs will be finished within the set deadline.
