Krasnodar's top welders shine in Russia's Best in Profession finals
The regional finals of Russia’s national Best in Profession welding competition have wrapped up in Krasnodar. The event highlighted the skills of local welders while promoting blue-collar careers as part of a wider federal initiative. Contestants took part in a two-stage challenge. First, they completed a theoretical exam. Then, they demonstrated their welding techniques in a hands-on assessment.
Yevgeny Gromov claimed the top spot and will now represent Krasnodar Territory at the national finals. Pyotr Pokusayev finished in second place, with Vladimir Korolyov taking third. All finalists received sponsor gifts to mark their achievements.
Vladimir Pravolamsky, head of Krasnodar Region’s Department of Construction, spoke about the event’s importance. He stressed how such competitions help raise the status of skilled trades. Kuban itself is already known as a key region for construction industry growth, thanks to its highly trained welders.
The contest formed part of the federal Worker of the Future programme. Its goal is to encourage more people to pursue careers in technical professions. The winners will now prepare for the next stage of the competition. Krasnodar’s strong showing reinforces its reputation as a centre for welding expertise. The event also supports ongoing efforts to boost interest in vocational training across Russia.
