Krasnodar's Russkaya Street faces month-long traffic disruption for major upgrades
Major roadworks in Krasnodar will soon disrupt traffic on Russkaya Street. From 21 February to 30 March, drivers will face restrictions between buildings 129/1 and 131/7. The changes come as part of wider upgrades under the city's transport programme, 25/35.
During the closure, vehicles will no longer turn directly from Kukharenko Street onto Russkaya Street. Instead, access will be rerouted via Aksayskaya Street, passing through Sholokhov and Solnechnaya streets.
The restrictions coincide with ongoing reconstruction on Yesenin Street, between Solnechnaya and Gomelskaya streets. This section will eventually expand to three lanes, with work set to last 18 months from spring 2025. The upgrades also include new stormwater drainage, pavements, a cycle lane, traffic signals and street lighting.
Further improvements are planned for other key routes. Kuban Street will widen to four lanes by late 2026, while Pashkovskaya Street will undergo modernisation, including bridge construction, from 2026. Stormwater systems will also be installed along Yesenin, Sholokhov and Kukharenko streets as part of the scheme.
The temporary traffic measures aim to minimise disruption while enabling long-term upgrades. Once complete, the expanded Yesenin Street and other modernised routes will form part of Krasnodar's improved transport network. Drivers are advised to follow the signed diversions during the works.
