Krasnodar Krai Wins Top Award for Solar Energy Expansion in Russia

Krasnodar Krai has been recognised as the Retail Market Leader in Renewable Energy at the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The award highlights the region’s rapid growth in solar power over the past seven years. Officials now describe it as one of Russia’s most promising areas for clean energy development.

Between 2018 and 2025, Krasnodar Krai built solar power plants across four key areas: Labinsky, Seversky, Krylovsky districts, and the city of Krasnodar. Together, these facilities produce a combined 91.5 MW of energy. Each year, they generate over 220 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.

The projects have drawn significant private funding, attracting more than 10 billion rubles in investment. They have also created around 50 local jobs. Yevgeny Pergun, the region’s deputy governor, noted that these developments play a vital role in addressing Krasnodar Krai’s energy shortages. The Russian Association for the Development of Renewable Energy assessed regions on multiple criteria before awarding the title. The recognition came during the high-profile economic forum in St. Petersburg, where industry leaders gathered to discuss future energy strategies.

The solar projects aim to cut Krasnodar Krai’s energy deficit in the long term. With private investment exceeding 10 billion rubles and new employment opportunities, the region continues to expand its renewable capacity. Officials expect further growth as demand for clean energy rises.
