Kolyma delegation joins Russia's Municipal Forum to shape local governance

A delegation from the Magadan Region is taking part in the 3rd All-Russian Municipal Forum "Small Homeland – The Strength of Russia." The team includes 15 leaders from local governments and institutions representing the interests of all Kolyma residents at this major federal platform. Among them is Sergei Smirnov, Chairman of the Magadan City Duma.

A key statement came from Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the United Russia party and Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council: proposals developed at the municipal level will be incorporated into the party's new People's Program. This means that the voice of every city and settlement in Kolyma will be heard in shaping Russia's national development agenda.

As noted by the head of the delegation, Maxim Brodkin—Deputy Secretary of the regional branch of United Russia and Deputy Chairman of the Magadan Regional Government—the forum is not just about sharing best practices but also about building partnerships. The skills and knowledge gained will be integrated into the work of the region's municipalities to:

  • Improve governance efficiency,
  • Streamline budget processes,
  • Strengthen dialogue with residents.

Sergei Smirnov, Chairman of the Magadan City Duma, attended a forum session on using artificial intelligence in municipal governance. He emphasized that digitalization and new technologies enhance both the quality and speed of addressing issues raised by residents.

Additionally, during the session "Tools for Sustainable Municipal Growth," Smirnov discussed with colleagues the challenges of managing municipal land and repurposing abandoned plots for economic use—topics of particular importance to the Magadan Region, where such initiatives are already being implemented.

"Small Homeland – The Strength of Russia" is a platform where concrete solutions are born to improve life in cities and villages. Kolyma's participation in this dialogue confirms that our initiatives matter and that our regional experience is in demand at the federal level.

The work continues. Kolyma remains in direct contact with the center, working together to build a comfortable life for every resident of our small homeland.
